The Wolf’s Mouth — Year Three

The Wolf’s Mouth — Year Three (January 24, 2017)

To:  Mr. Steven Mnuchin, U.S. Treasury Secretary

Dear Mr. Mnuchin:

In each of the past two years, I have written your predecessor, Jacob Lew, informing him of my intention to bypass the U.S. Treasury and issue voluntary tax payments directly to the Defense Department, the Veterans Administration, and various charities, educational institutions and law enforcement agencies.  Attached for your reference are copies of my letters to Mr. Lew and my contributions for the year 2016.

As my letters and related web site (www.newguardsforliberty.com) make clear, I am no anti-government zealot.  My goal is simple.  What I seek is a restoration of the rule of law and limited, constitutional government in America.

In 1776, Thomas Jefferson, John Adams, Benjamin Franklin and other patriots placed their necks in a hangman’s noose by signing the Declaration of Independence.  In doing so, they committed their lives, fortunes and sacred honor to the cause of freedom.

Mr. Mnuchin, I have compared my action to sticking my head in a wolf’s mouth.  I continue to believe that doing so is the price of preserving our precious freedom for future generations.

I am convinced that if freedom is to survive, we the people must emulate our nation’s founders.  We must serve as freedom’s first responders.  We must also be its defenders of last resort.  My hope is that liberty-loving citizens will withhold their consent from what has become a lawless federal government, which has forfeited its legitimate authority by repeatedly violating the strict constraints imposed upon it by the Constitution of the United States.

Only when we the people have forced the federal “wolf” back into the original confines of its constitutional cage will America once again be–in the words of Ronald Reagan–“a nation that has a government — not the other way around.”

Wishing you and the new administration you serve every success in “draining the swamp” in Washington, D.C., I am

Yours cordially,

Ray Cedor Jr.
